This time I went for the speed. Since the whole composition is pretty simple I was trying to capture in as fast as I could. The whole thing took almost 1 hour. But I'm not pleased. Gotta try harder next time...

Another!!! (insert Thor's voice here)

Finally finished the three painting document! And with third new
landscape came new struggles and obstacles. The worst part were the
marbles on the left and right corner of the painting. And I still did't
figure out how to paint them (...without spending ages rendering every
single one). I admit the composition is not the best and the rocks on
the left are literally eating viewers eyes. Other than that i enjoyed
painting this one...

After yesterday's study I managed to finish the second study from the three. To be honest, I hate this one. i regret I chose such awful composition and subject. Gave me a headache. But I did the best I could to keep it interesting. To fix up the composition I tried to set focus on the middle rock whit more detail. Then adding less and less into the back. Since the whole composition is very flat the the desired outcome didn't arrive.

As you might have noticed, I did't finish the second plein air today. In
the middle of the painting I realized that I had no idea how to
continue. So I decided that instead of hours of confusing brush testing I
rather try new brushes on different subject. Something easier this
time.
I'm quite satisfied with the outcome. Since the whole composition was farely easy I had more time to focus on the rocky texture, and I can tell you, live is so much easier with the specific brushes for specific job. So instead of muddy and blurry brush strokes from the first plein air I ended up with nice crisp rocky texture. I still have to work out the reflections though...

High Tatras
My first plein air painting...from the photo. Finding out that good old
approach does not work anymore. I got cought up in the detail and at the
same time wanted to let it looser, so in the end it ended up looking
like this. Well, its a start right?

Tamarin
I decided to make some study about animals and I dont even know how but I
settled with monkey. I would like to use this research to enhance both,
my creature designs as well as character designs...plus, I am miserable
with fur and still with colours....tam tada daaaaaa...MONKEY!!!
So today I choose Cotton-headed Tamarin and I found them remarkably attractive...plus they look like tiny Einsteins! So the fur was really challenging and the the high amount of colours as well.

Day 9
This day started with the plan to do some hairstyle studies, but then it turned out into one portrait study...again (I have to work more!!!). This one was actually earier since there were nno complementary colours and so the color guessing was a lot easier. Also learned a bit about bounced light you can see in the hair.
And I started with the linework this time and worked my way up to the color, it didn't really help since I had to make some qiute big adjustments anyway...And i refined it and refined and refined again and then it turned out like this. But its done and I have learned a bit of something.

Day 8 - Week 2 - Color andventures!
Hey guys! Second week is here and that means a few changes around here!
Well, for starers I want to write more about what I actually do about studies, rather then just posting plane images. This way I get something to refer to, you guys get something to refer to and everyone is happy!
And so I will still be updating blog dayily-ish. The Uni is gonna take more of my free time then I prevousely thought. But fear not, I wont stop my crusade for perfection, or whathever you would like to call it. (Seriousely, I just made that up, come up with something better please!)
Hell yeah, I got through the kind-of boring week and now starts the real fun! Aaaaand this week is going to start my color journey. I was avoiding color long time enough, but now I say, not anymore!
And as a proof here a little study for today. And I failed miserably...and don't get me wrong, that is a good thing! Now I see things I didn't really considered. This is my first streight-in-color painting and I didn't do any linework underneath. And for that reason, it took AGES! I have to do linedrawing and save time that I'll otherwise spend on endless correcting of the proportions and shapes. It was awful to just stare at the painting and thinking, "ok now it is correct, finally" and then flip it horizontyally and see that it is FAR from correct...
So, hopefully, I will find time to do some of my own work of arts and design. Well, yeah, sounds fancy but it is not really. But hey, after all, that is why I am doin all this, isn't it? To GET BETTER.

Once upon a time...
Time has come! Finally... The first post about my Personal Study project. Yep it is going to be a long long post...so this is the end.
Ok jokes aside. For my first personal study project I chose to kinda re-design fairy tales. Just to be clear the full name of the project says: ONCE UPON A TIME: THE REDESIGNED FAIRY TALE.
Yeah I know everybody does that these days but it is a great topic. The opportunities are infinite. You can do whatever you want, literally. (Ok not everyting, just the things that are moraly acceptable)
Since I have started to work digitaly only a few days ago it is a real challenge for me to do a lot (a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot) of stuff in Photoshop while I don't even have any idea how to do it.
So I decided that study is the most important thing here, and a lot of work. And repetition of course. Well, after watching Matt Kohr's Ctrl+Paint website full of great short straightforward videos for beggining artists (just as I am), I have learned that the most, foremost, important thing is to start at the basics. This means still lives...a whole lot of still lives.
So here is one I did yesterday:
